Hoi An Ancient Town is truly unique with it's location on the edge of the Thu Bon River & just 10mins drive to the unspoilt palm fringed beaches makes Hoi An a memorable magical destination for a holiday.

The traditional wooden architecture is fascinating dating back to the 15th century with a mixture of heritage & culture from the Vietnamese, Japanese & Chinese . You can buy a used motorbike for sale or rent motorbike or "XE OM".

In the narrow laneways & streets of Hoi An Ancient Town many pagodas, meeting houses , Japanese Merchant houses, Chinese temples, old canals, cafes, Japanese-designed bridge , wooden shop-houses, French style colonial terraces and Assembly Halls can be found.

Hoi An was originally a traditional Asian trading port & was considered by the Chinese and Japanese merchants to be the best destination for trading in all of Asia. Hoi An is now recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in December 1999 & there are over 800 preserved buildings in Hoi An.

Overall: We stayed in Hoi An for a week on the beach as the weather was incredibly hot so being close to the sea breeze's was a relief after a day touring.

The best aspect of Ancient Town is that no cars are allowed so it's lovely to escape the sounds of motorbikes & cars. The town is very walkable although if you get tired mopeds are available & taxi's can be found outside easily.

At night the Old Town comes alive with music, swinging lanterns, & lively restaurants. The food is another wonderful component of Hoi An. There are some fabulous restaurants which also offer countless cooking classes. Shopping is also fabulous with plenty of interesting Art Galleries, tailors, silk emporiums, leather goods, & wood carvings. Hoi An offers just about everything when it comes to shopping !!
